Who we are
At Juniper, we’re building something small, intentional, and rooted in the land. We are a women-owned, self-published magazine based in Utah, shaped by the vastness of the desert and the quiet pull of open space. This is a grassroots publication—crafted slowly, printed thoughtfully, and made in community with others who believe stories from the outdoors deserve time, care, and a human touch.
Juniper is a home for photography, travel writing, essays, and field notes that honor the landscapes of the American West and beyond. We explore deserts, backroads, canyons, and even the mountains—not for the conquest, but for the connection. And we highlight the voices often left out of traditional outdoor narratives—especially those of women, LGBTQ+ creatives, and BIPOC storytellers.
We’re not backed by big media. We rely on collaboration, shared vision, and a belief in the power of independent print. Every issue is built with the help of contributors who bring depth, texture, and perspective to these pages. If you’re a writer, photographer, illustrator, or kindred creative with something to say about the land and how we move through it—we’d love to hear from you.
To partner with Juniper is to support a magazine that values craft over content marketing, people over platform, and story over spectacle. Whether you’re here to pitch an idea, collaborate on a feature, or help amplify the mission—we’re excited to connect.
